Sue Baldwin, Lady Captain
I joined Wharton Park after a series of golf lessons with the internationally renowned professional General Keith Baldwin. I was made to feel very welcome by the Ladies and this friendly, inclusive environment is a real asset of the club.
I particularly enjoy playing in matches as I am rather competitive. If you don't see me at the course for a few days, its probably because I'm away on a Golf Trip somewhere warm and exotic.
After my initial time as Ladies Vice Captain Captain in 2024 I have really enjoyed my year as Lady Captain.

Di Hayman, Lady Vice Captain
Hi my name is Di Hayman
I’m Ladies Vice Captain for 2025 season.
Having been a PE teacher & a hockey player for many years I first tried my hand at golf in 2012 thinking…. so this should be easy - yeah right!
I enjoy the challenge of the game….most of the time & strive to be better - mixed results! More than that I value being part of WPGC; a beautiful & challenging course, friendly & welcoming members & a ladies section that shows unwavering support & friendship & is great fun to be part of on & off the course.
I’m a strong advocate for golf being relevant, available, flexible, accessible & inclusive for everyone where healthy, fun competition is available for all whatever their motivation might be for playing.
I’m really looking forward to helping our small but significant ladies section at WP evolve, grow, develop & thrive as an integral part of & alongside the club in general during this year & beyond.
Richard Rodgers, Gents Captain
(I'm not the youth on the right....)
I started playing golf when I was 10 in summer 1972 at The Pitcheroak Golf Club in Redditch. Joined Ludlow Golf Club October 1973. These were the days when woods were actually made of wood.
Summer 1985 was a turning point for me and you folks reading this as that is when I started working with last year's Captain, Steve Evans. He mentioned that he had always wanted to try golf, so I split my set of clubs into two bags and headed to Ludlow one evening. Within a week he had bought some clubs. Therefore I guess that if you have one of 'those' conversations with Steve on the course, it's ultimately my fault.
I have played to a very reasonable standard most of my life, getting down to 2 at one point. Sadly not that good now as I don't play enough but still able to keep in single figures.
2005 saw me join Wharton Park and I managed to win the Club Championship at my first attempt. Helped in no small way by a weather delay that ran into weeks. During my first stint at Wharton Park I played in many comps and matches creating many great friendships along the way.
My second stint at Wharton Park started just after Christmas 2022. I have so many great friends here at this great club and was really happy with my decision to return.
We are all lucky to be members at what I feel is the best 18 hole layout in Worcestershire, if not the Midlands.
Away from golf I am still working. Married to Nicola. Have two children and two lovely grand children that keep my wife and I on our toes. When I get a spare day I am a trainee Fireman (coal shoveller) on the Severn Valley Railway.
Dan Rock, Gents Vice Captain
Hi. I'm Dan. You may have seen me hitting 95mph as I rush to the First Tee 3 minutes after my Tee Time. I'm the Chap who looks like a young George Clooney with a beard. I was really chuffed to be asked by Richard to be his Vice Captain. He even bought me a watch so that I may turn up on time next year.
I support Wolves and enjoy beer.
Andy Oxenham, Seniors Captain
Hello. My name is Andrew Oxenham and I've been Seniors Captain following Eve's introduction to Adam.
I like to play golf and watch Bath play Rugby.
I am a proud Grandad and enjoy working in the local community as a volunterr carer. You may have seen me on the course with him, his name is Phil.
Jon Shore, Secretary
Hi I'm Jon. I've had the pleasure of being a club member since 2010. During this time, I've been the least successful Handicap Team Captain in club history. In the 2016 we lost all our matches except one. The one we won was by default as the other club forfeited as they couldn't raise a team.
I had the honour of being Club Captain in 2017, having previously been Steve Owen's Vice Captain in 2016.
John Burston, Members Representative
Hi,
I have been a proud member of Wharton Park GC since 1991 and am pleased to be one of very few original members still playing at the club. If you have any topics that you would like discussed in committee please email me at ;
johnrburston@gmail.com and I will happily ask questions.
Richard Pollard, Members Representative
I’m Richard Pollard, likely known to most as Pol!
I’ve been a member of Wharton’s Park since 2020 and enjoyed every minute. I’ve had some good rounds and bad rounds but always come off smiling and have had a good laugh either way!! My biggest achievement at the club is winning the CMS cup in 2024! My current handicap is 14 and one day I’d love to get to single figures.
Hopefully I’ll see you on the course, or I can also be found on the patio with a Guinness, splitting the G.
