General Play Scores

Introduction

The World Handicap System now allows golfers to register scores for handicapping purposes during a general play round. Acceptable scores include those played with friends, colleagues and in societies.

There is no limit to the number of scores that may be submitted

How do I submit a General Play score?

To post a general play score from any venue, members are required to:

1. Register the round before you play.

a. At Wharton Park this is done on the Intelligent Golf App. The App records the time you register.

b. For Away scores in England this is done on the My England Golf App or by simply telling the Pro/Club Manager of the Away club of an intention to submit a score. Again the App records the time you register

c. For any other away scores (eg. Wales, Scotland etc.) you must register at the club's Pro Shop.

2. Play and enjoy the round in accordance with the Rules of Golf.

3. Enter the score.

a. At Wharton Park by using the Intelligent Golf App. Your score must be verified by someone who has witnessed your round. This attester, also needs to be able to use the Intelligent Golf App. Alternatively you must send a photo of your correctly completed scorecard after you have entered your score to wpgcsecretary@gmail.com

b. At an Away club in England by using the My England Golf App.

c. For any other away scores (eg. Wales, Scotland etc.) then return a photo of your completed scorecard to wpgcsecretary@gmail.com as soon as you have completed your round.

Please note, when using either App to submit a General Play score the following details will be active in order to protect the integrity of the handicap system:

1. Geo-location technology will ensure registering the intent to post a score can only be done in close proximity to the course where the round will take place

2. A time lag will be in operation from the point where intent to play a round is registered to the stage when a score can be accepted

3. A golfer's final score must be verified by a playing partner who has witnessed the round and who holds a World Handicap System handicap index.

Any scores that haven't been registered before play commences will not be accepted.

Any rounds registered without a score being submitted will have a score recorded equal to the member's handicap index.
