Our Local Rule allowing Preferred Lies (also known as "Winter Rules") is now in use and applies to the general area of the course cut to fairway height.
This is to promote fair play and to help protect the course.
When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief (prefer the lie) within 6 inches.
The area for free relief is taken from the Reference Point (spot of the original ball) and is measured as six inches from the Reference Point but must not be nearer the hole.
The player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area. The player may clean their ball before placing it.
